Sleek Matte Me VS Rimmel Apocalips

Sleek Matte me in the shade Petal - £4.99
Rimmel Apocalips in the shade Celestial - £5.99
See my individual reviews on the Apolcalips here, and Matte me here. I'll try and make this a short comparison as I have already written reviews on the two lip creams (see links). To be honest, the both products are really quite different! If you're looking for a glossy, thick, staining cream then go with the Apocalips; if you're looking for a matte, dry, smooth cream then go for the Matte me. Personally, I prefer the Matte me as I find matte lipsticks very drying to my flaky lips but this product fits the bill perfectly for me. The Apocalips isn't bad at all, it's just not my preference. If I want glossy lips, I'll use a lipstick- but this product will look stunning over lipstick, it depends what look you're going for.

Mac Lipstick - Peach Blossom

Mac Lipstick in Peach Blossom - £15
If you saw my previous review on my first Mac Lipstick, Pure Zen (here), then you'll know how I initially went into Mac looking for this lipstick. After 3 weeks of waiting for it to be in stock, I received a call from Mac telling me that this beauty was available! This lipstick is a Cremesheen formula which means that it's glossy and slides onto the lips like butter. The bullet looks slightly shimmery and pearlescent but this is hardly noticeable on the lips and doesn't leave a gritty residue.

I find that this coral pink shade is a 'your lips but better' colour and is very natural on the lips for everyday use. I actually think I'm going to use this shade on my prom night- if the bullet lasts till June that is!

Sleek Matte Me - Petal

Sleek Matte Me lip cream in the shade Petal

Suddenly I have had a recent obsession with Sleek due to their amazing face form palette which I use daily. I have decided to branch out into the brand's other lesser-known products and stumbled across their lip creams. I haven't seen too much rave about these in the blogosphere so I thought I'd give it a go, and I love it. Since the formulation of this cream is matte, it can be a bit drying on the lips. I've found that if you apply lip balm just before you apply this cream, it makes your lips very sticky and uncomfortable to wear. This particular shade is quite natural on my skin tone yet it looks more pinky in person. I would describe the colour as a barbie yellow toned pink.

The doe-foot applicator is quite dry due to the formulation of the product and feels like a marker pen when you slide it across your lips. However, the staying power of these creams is amazing! I would describe this cream as more of a stain due to how long it clings to your lips yet this has consequences. It is awful to remove with a makeup wipe and leaves an unattractive pink ring on the edges of your lips on the morning after. Nevertheless, the first few hours of wearing this product is an absolute dream and makes me feel confident knowing that I have something on my lips that isn't noticeable to my touch. I am aware that there are 'Gloss me' versions of this cream that I haven't yet discovered as I would prefer to use a glossy lipstick than a lip gloss- that's just my preference though.

Have you tried this product?
